Sergiy SMETANA
Dr. Sergiy SMETANA
Head of Food Data Group at DIL, German Institute of Food Technologies.

He is responsible for management of data analysis, life cycle assessment and sustainability analysis. Head of Food Data Group since 2017, responsible for management of data analysis, life cycle assessment and sustainability analysis. He joined the institute in 2013 as Research Associate. Before that, he worked as a visiting Fulbright Scholar in Brook Byers Institute of Sustainable Systems (Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA) for 1 year and 6 years as an engineer at the Institute of Nature Management and Environmental Problems (Ukraine). The main focus of current activities is in sustainability assessment of innovative and disruptive technologies, data analysis and modelling of complex systems, alternative sources and production systems.

Jannatul FERDOUSE, MSc
Research Associate at DIL Networks department, German Institute of Food Technologies from November 2022.

She Completed her Master’s in environmental resource management with a focus on sustainability and life cycle assessments. She is currently involved in projects related to life cycle assessment and sustainability of alternative protein sources using SimaPro. Her work also involves the evaluation of social and consumer attitudes toward alternative protein-based food products.

She Completed her Master’s in environmental resource management with a focus on sustainability and life cycle assessments. Her work also involves the evaluation of social and consumer attitudes toward alternative protein-based food products.

PhD Student (Universität Osnabrück, Germany on the topic “Data-driven Intelligent simulation model of global obesity).

Her PhD is based on implementing complex system models by using the concept of white-box explainable models of machine learning.
Research Associate at DIL working within the Food Data Group from 2020, she is experienced Senior Software Engineer with a demonstrated history of working in the internet and e-commerce industry. Skilled in Unit Testing, PHP, Python, jQuery, My SQL, CodeIgniter, and HTML. Strong engineering professional with a Master's degree focused in Computer Science from NIT HAMIRPUR.

PhD at Warsaw University of Life Sciences on the topic: Influence of different electrode materials on the quality and sensorial properties of liquid products treated with pulsed electric fields technology.

She is working as Research Associate within the Advanced Technologies department and has significant experience with the study and utilization of novel processing technologies, both at the laboratory and pilot scale level. Furthermore, as part of her PhD thesis she dealt with sensorial analysis of liquid products.

He is food chemist and biologist and works within the Networks Department since 2019, as a project manager and senior researcher. He has a broad experience in FP6, FP7, ERA-Net, Prima, H2020, Horizon Europe project S/T and financial management, but also in new product optimization, evaluation, characterization and technological transfer techniques. He coordinated FOODSCAN (FP7-SME) and ProVegFlake (H2020-SME) and was Quality Manager of NOSHAN (FP7-KBBE), BIOSEA (H2020 BBI JU) and IMT Manager of PROLIFIC (H2020-BBI JU).
